RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR IMPORTING DOGS

  1. The Trinidad and Tobago Kennel Club will normally only accept for registration dogs from overseas countries where The TTKC has reciprocal agreements with the overseas Kennel Club or from countries which have full membership, associate membership or contract partnership of the F.C.I.
  2. Application for the registration of a dog imported from other countries may be considered by the Committee, provided that the application is made BEFORE the dog is imported.
  3. Imported dogs will normally only be accepted for those breeds recognized by The Trinidad and Tobago Kennel Club, but applications for importing other established foreign breeds will be considered, providing that an application is made BEFORE the dog is imported.
  4. All imported dogs will have the letters “IMP” added to their TTKC registered name.
  5. The name of a dog imported from, and already registered in another country, cannot be changed except by the addition of an owner’s affix, which can be incorporated free of charge at registration. It is permitted to use any one of the following words: – of, at, with, to, among, by, from, in, through, via, between, for, under, over.
  6. Bitches imported in whelp (To be noted on the Certified Export Pedigree) are to be registered with The TTKC. The litter will then be registered on a litter registration form accompanied by a certified three generation pedigree issued from the country of origin for the sire.
  7. The litter registration form to register the litter should be accompanied by certified three generation export pedigrees of both dam and sire from the country of origin.
  8. A TTKC registered dog originally exported from TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, should be re-registered when it returns to the country. The Application Form should be marked “Re-importation” and should be accompanied by the original export pedigree and a registration certificate issued by the overseas Kennel Club where appropriate. A new registration certificate will be issued to the owner at his/her address.
  9. The Trinidad and Tobago Kennel Club reserves the right to correct or cancel for cause the registration of this dog and its descendants. Any misrepresentation on this application is one example of for cause cancellation and may result in loss of TTKC privileges. Registration is not guaranteed. Processing fees are nonrefundable and all fees are subject to change without notice.
  10. All imported dogs emanating from Belgium with a Belgium health certificate must be accompanied by a Belgium registration . (i.e. dogs just passing through Belgium for the purpose of export must first be registered with the Belgium Kennel Club)
  11. All applications for registration of an imported dog must be accompanied by a certified export pedigree from the country of exportation in ENGLISH.

    Dogs entering the country under the existing Quarantine Regulations must do so strictly in accordance with the Regulations.
    The required *documentation should be retained by the person importing the dog and must be available on request.
  • Shipping documents and health certificate from country of origin and landing permit.
    Quarantine: Applications to register imported dogs may be submitted whilst the dog is still in quarantine, although registration itself will not take place until the dog has left quarantine.

THIS FORM MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY:-

  1. A Certified Export Pedigree issued by the appropriate overseas Kennel Club.
  2. A registration certificate issued by the overseas Kennel Club in the owner’s name.
  3. Payment of 500.00 TT dollars.
